Dam: Sugar Hollow's Esperanza ARI#
31604482 Light Fawn Esperanza is the Spanish word for “hope”, and as she was Sugar Hollow Farm’s first cria, we thought that was an appropriate name. She is our hope for the future, and she has not disappointed us. Her fleece has a micron count of 20 and placed 3rd in the 2010 New Jersey Alpaca Classic spin-off. She’s the great granddaughter of both PPPeruvian Royal Fawn and PPPeruvian Kenamori Gold
Esperanza took a blue ribbon in the spin-off and cottage fleece competitions at VAOBA in December, 2013. The spin-off judge said the yarn was very bright and bouncy, and very soft. Fleece judge commented that her fleece is soft, bright with excellent fineness. Out of 20 points available for fineness and handle, Esperanza received 19.
Description
Her mom's name, Esperanza, means "hope," and Faith is keeping it going! With Royal Fawn in her dam's lineage, and everyone else in her sire's side, we have lots of faith in this little girl!
And that faith is not misplaced! Here are the judges' comments from the 2015 VAOBA and the 2016 CABO fleece shows:
Though she didn't place in the VAOBA show, Judge Wini Labreque gave her a score of 18/20 for fineness and handle, 8/10 for brightness, 6/7 for length and 4.5/5 for color. Must have been a tough class!
But she took 2nd at CABO with a total score of 73! Judge Kathy Klay gave her 18.5 on fineness and handle, 7.5/8 on micron uniformity, 6.5/7 for uniformity in length, and 5/5 in uniformity of color. Her comment: "Awesome fineness and handle."
