SNOWMASS STAR MATRIX
Huacaya, Female, Proven | Light Brown
ARI# 31620192, D.O.B. 9/9/2009, Full Peruvian
Sire: Snowmass Matrix ARI#
850345 Beige Double "O" Good is proud to announce the purchase of Snowmass Matrix for $675,000 from Julie & Don Skinner.
SNOWMASS MATRIX IS THE FINEST FLEECED; HIGHEST CURVATURE QUECHUA SON STANDING IN THE WORLD.
Snowmass Matrix is truly one in a million. The fact is this stud has the Premier genetics for high curvature and ultimate fineness.
He is a compact robust and well proportioned stud, perfect overall score in frame, bite, body, and reproductive anatomy. He has a fleece that extends its superior qualities over his entire frame.
WITH ONLY 11 ENTRIES HE TOOK RESERVE HERDSIRE OF THE YEAR IN US FUTURITY 2008 IN BOTH LIGHT AND COLOR.
THE CONSISTENCY OF EXCELLENCE IN HIS PROGENY IS BEYOND REFUTE.
Matrix has what we call a Merino x Vicuna style of crimp. He has a bit more organization in the expression of crimp than a true vicuna but a very high frequency of crimp indicative in the vicuna qualities. Most importantly this stud exhibits an extreme fineness, brightness, and consistency of fineness which is seen in the extension into extremities(hip, belly, shoulder neck and head). He has held these qualities as he has aged which is exactly what we are looking and breeding for.

Dam: Snowmass Silver Star ARI#
830286 Medium Silver Grey Acknowledged by Julie and Don Skinner to be "their very best grey female" and the last of their elite grey breeding program. What a privilege for us to be custodian of so many of those stellar dams.
She is one of 3 excellent females that we acquired who are out of Snowmass Peruvian Casanova, a Bueno son, in order to insinuate those gentics into our grey breeding program. Her mom is out of Roger Haldane's breeding program in Australia.
Stars is "drop dead gorgeous", with an outstanding head, excellent balance and proportions and attitude to rival any celebrity diva's. Even as a mature hembra, she is athletic and energetic, proud and erect and loves to spend time with the younger girls.
Her show record, though brief is anything but shabby.
Silver Star has done a remarkable job of maintaining her fine fleece over the years. That is one of our highest priorities in our breeding decisions.
Her son, Snowmass Enlightenment was the highest selling huacaya at the 2009 Futurity auction. Her cria indeed "have been extraordinary".
Service Sire: Snowmass RRoyal Stars ARI#
30820456 White SOLD
Quality breeds quality, at least most of the time! A quick look at RRoyal Stars ARI certificate will illustrate just how painstakingly the Skinners, at Snowmass Alpacas, constructed their breeding decisions to arrive at this offspring. We purchased mom as the second highest selling female at their 2007 auction.
Roy has quietly ascended to the top of our breeding program and undeniably will be a major contributor. He is out of 2 outstanding Snowmass fawns. We believe that he is a "switch hitter" and expect that he will produce both great whites and more importantly color. Mom is one of our strongest foundation females and has produced champions repeatedly. Dad is one of the best Hemingway sons with an outstanding production record, including Herdsire of the Year, Snowmass XXXtreme (brown).
He is incredibly dense, very fine, and his fleece "glows". It is extremely uniform with a baby soft hand. It breaks into long, silky, draping, opalescent locks belying his incredible fineness/density.
2009 was a breakout season for Roy. He brought raves from every judge who saw him and acquitted himself well against some of the best in the country.
Follicle density testing (Ian Watt)
Follicle density: 79.51 /mm2
S/P: 13.0:1
Dp:Ds ratio 1.42
" This is the 4th densest alpaca that we have tested in the US and the 5th in the world" (as of 6/30/09)
(For comparison, El Nino was higher at 89.5 in follicle density, but had an S/P 12.5 compared to Roy's 13.0/1.)
We have used RRoy across our herd now for three years with remarkable results in increased density and fineness. We are now using his best son RR Arturo (see his biopsy results) to replace his father in our colored program. RRoy's light fawn son, RR Bacchus just won FIRST PLACE and COLOR CHAMPION at his first show under Diana Timmerman. This is an opportunity to have one of the densest alpacas in this country working for you and improving your entire herd. Please feel free to call us to ask any questions or to discuss!
Description

Secondary:Primary Ratio: 10.1:1
In-skin mean primary fibre diameter: 20.7 micron SD 3.9
In-skin mean secondary fibre diameter: 14.0 micron SD 1.9
