Priority Auction LOT#47 W GORGEOUS CRIA
RR Rose Godiva - Guns n Roses Daughter!
Huacaya, Female, Proven | Medium Rose Grey
ARI# 30820555, D.O.B. 4/28/2009, 1/4 Peruvian, 3/4 Chilean
Sire: Aussie Guns-n-Roses ARI#
30036107 Medium Rose Grey GnR is now owned by Fun in the Country Alpacas in Michigan. He remains on our "Hall of Fame" as herdsire emeritus, for all that he has contributed!
Deciding which herdsire to use in your breeding program? Here's what we do..
Pedigree: An excellent indicator of a male's EBV (estimated breeding value). We want lines with established pre-potency that have demonstrated sustained fineness through at least 4-5 years. Click on GnR's ARI cert icon above.
Conformation: It has to be a given, if it's not, the search stops here. We like a male that is well proportioned, but compact. We want good bite and head. Solid bone and strong fore and hindquarters. We prefer good sized testicles and want to see him breeding before age 2 and maintaining a vigorous libido thereafter...but an even non aggressive temperament. GnR is our poster boy for all of the above.
Fiber: Hand and uniformity: That's easy! Just put it against your cheek.A grid sample can be found by going to our website...he's consistant across a broad blanket top to belly, brisket to tail.
Fineness: It's not about 1st shear micron. What's the 4th shear like? Don't hide the SD and % over 30 micron...that's what the industry is crying for. And while your at it, check out the difference between the micron in primary and secondary fibers and their respective SDs (on skin biopsy stats).
Brightness: GnR's fiber glows...a quality not lost on every one of his offspring.
Density: Fiber doesn't have to "feel" dense...more often than not that's a sign of coarseness. Quite simply, GnR is the densest grey biopsied through Jim Watt's lab in Australia, and they've been doing it for over 20 years. If you click on the histogram icon, you will see his biopsy results. An explanation of those numbers can be found on our website.
Length: His fiber is ridiculously long. His 4th shear (at right) is only 315 days.
Dam: PATAGONIA'S SAKURA-SOLD! ARI#
30422971 Light Rose Grey Sakura has been an outstanding foundation female, with fabulous mothering skills and puts tons of weight on her cria. She herself is sturdy, and maintains an excellent body score through lactation.
This is one "goose that lays golden eggs". Her last daughter, Francesca, just went to her first show and won Color Champion at 8 months of age. She is a stunner!
2014 brought Stella Di Platino, a gorgeous tux silver grey female.
For 2015 we elected to try her with RR Arturo . Pablo Picasso is a very promising fawn cria out of RR ARTURO
2016 should be yet another outstanding production year...we're shooting for grey yet again with a Kit Carson cria!
At age 9

Description
Guns n Roses has had an uncanny ability to improve virtually every female that he has been brought to, but the breeding to Sakura, was a match "made in heaven".
We didn't know how good Godiva was until she turned 2 years of age.
Sure, she always had extreme brightness, handle and "eye popping" length but we would have liked to bring a crimpier fleece to the show ring. Well it's crimpier at age 2 as she nurses her baby, now that it's growing a tad slower. Not to worry...it's still looong.
It should come as no surprise, given Godiva's pedigree and the outstanding cria that we are seeing out of our own Snowmass Midnight Sun for 2011, RR Venezia, has us shaking our heads (in a good way!) Needless to say, this breeding has been repeated for 2012.
We biopsied Godiva through Ian Watt and her results are outstanding!
@ age 24 months
Density: 52.6/mm2
S/P ratio: 10.8:1
In-skin mean primary fiber diameter: 19.0 microns, SD 2.3
In-skin mean secondary fiber diameter: 13.8 microns, SD 2.4
Comments:
"An excellent rose grey female exhibiting very high density (for any color female huacaya female alpaca), very good S:P ratio and an excellent fiber population differential.
The micrograph...shows orderly and regular follicle groups which contribute to these elite fleece traits expressed in the biopsy."
