Dam: APF Macaria ARI#
30547056 Light Brown Round and round and round she goes, what color she throws, nobody knows!
APF Macaria is light brown with patches of silver grey at her shoulders. Her father, ELK Hercules, is white, and her mother, Brookmere's Camella is black. Her cria have been beige, black, and black, but with white, fawn, brown, black and yes, grey, in her genes, who knows?
Macaria's fleece is bright with a long staple length. It spins into lovely, soft yarn. She is conformationally correct, including her bite.
Macaria is a fabulous mom! She actually nursed another dam’s cria when that dam was in distress after delivering. She’s had three flawless births with healthy cria.
Macaria stands tall and proud and has been our go-to alpaca for outreach events. She will be a wonderful addition to a colorful herd, or to a brand-new herd!
She is bred to our stunning herdsire Snowmass King Leonidus, with her cria due in May, 2018. We have every confidence that Macaria will have an easy delivery and will be a fabulous mom -- and she sells for little more than the cost of Leo's breedings!
Service Sire: Poseidon Isaac's Matoskah ARI#
32350692 Beige Due Date: 10/26/2023 Matoskah is Lakota for Spirit Bear, and Matt is just as special as that bear is to the Lakota. His genetics include Royal Fawn (can't get those any more!), Caligula, Dom Lucilio, and Legacy. His grandsire, Poseidon, lives in Texas. The offspring of Isaac, Matt's sire, live primarily on the west coast, so this is a rare opportunity to add those champion producing genetics to your herd.
Matt's dam, Georgianna of Legacy's Conclusive, brings even more to the table. Her line is out of Canada, and includes Legacy, Conclusive, Snowmass Legacy's Golden Boy, and Maxmilian II. Her vicuna like features include incredible fineness and hand, and she has the most beautiful eyes you've ever seen!
So much for genetics -- now about Matt himself! Judge Amanda Vandenbosch couldn't say enough about him when she awarded him 2nd place at the Southern Select in 2013. She commended his conformation, fineness, density, organization, and attitude. Her best comment: "This is what we should all be breeding for!"
Matt's skin biopsy report (May, 2014) is in! Ian Watts, of Alpaca Consulting Services, USA says Matt is in the top 4 animals he's tested, and his density, a 83.6/mm is the highest he's seen! Secondary:Primary fiber ratio: 11.0/1; in-skin primary fiber diameter 27.0 microns; SD 3.7 microns; range 18.4 microns to 35.0 microns; in-skin mean secondary fiber diameter 21.6 microns; SD 3.0 microns; range 13.5 microns to 21.6 microns.
Looking for brightness? Matt's got it! He won the judges' choice award for brightness at the 2014 MAPACA Jubilee. And at shearing in April, 2015 the shearer commented that if the moon is full he must glow in the dark. His fleece is BEAUTIFUL! Take a look at the pictures, but the camera can't capture just how soft and fine that fleece is. If you want to feel it just ask and we'll send a small sample.
For more information about EPDs, what they mean, and how to use the information, please go to the AOA website: www.alpacainfo.com. Search for BGF Poseidon Isaac's Matoskah. In the meantime, if you want fineness you've found it! Just look where Matt ranks for average fiber diameter (AFD), percent of fibers greater than 30 microns (%F>30), spinning fineness (SF), and % of medullated fibers - 2021 EPDs put him in the top 1%! He is in the top 5% for SDAFD, and in the top 15% for mean curvature (MC).
His 2022 histogram results are in and added to this page. At the age of 10 his mean fiber diameter is 22.8 with a SDAFD of 4.9, which means he is pretty darn consistent. His comfort factor is almost 95% - at the age of 10! Looking to make nice yarn? Matt is your guy!
Matt is the total package with several offspring already winning in the show ring.
We would be happy to consider a swap of breedings to diversify genetics!
Description
As Stevie Nicks sings it, "Rhiannon rings like a bell in the night, and wouldn't you love to love her?" Wouldn't YOU love to love Rhiannon? Her fleece is fine and bright with a lovely hand! She took blue ribbons in the spin-off and cottage fleece competitions at VAOBA in 2013. The cottage fleece judge commented on the soft glow of her fleece, and noted that spinning would produce "beautiful yarn -- fine gauge with very soft hand." Suggested use of the yarn by the judge: knitting, crochet, weaving, next-to-skin garments, and baby items.
Rhiannon is the beautiful and bright black daughter of A.L. Paca's Exclusivo. "Clue's" grey mother is 18 time champion A.L.Paca's Chiri Upper, out of 8 time champion Enchantment's Chiricahua and Simba of A.L.Pacas. Clue's sire is the infamous MFI Jericho. What else needs to be said?
Rhiannon's cria have done well in the show ring. Her daughter, Freeflyer's Freebird, was a beautiful medium fawn color and took 3rd place out of 14 in Halter at VAOBA in 2015. Her true black son Billy the Kid took 2nd out of 7 in Halter at PAOBA in 2019.
