Great News! Rico is coming back to Ohio summer of 2011
Rico came to Ohio in 08 to distribute "16.5 micron @ 8yrs" lingering fineness genes. Rico's 8 year old skin biopsy, performed by Norm Evans, revealed 69 follicles/sq.mm and a 16.5 average micron.

****UPDATE....Rico's 2008 histogram (8 year old) 17.1, SD 3.5, CV 20.5, %>30 0.5.
The AlpacaRosa refers to this as
"LINGERING FINENESS" in a breeding male! We are bound and determined to make this a household name!
I know what you all are thinking.....!!! Can this be ? 17 micron at 8 years with THAT kind of Brightness & crimp staying power?? Is this picture really his 7 year old fleece?
WELL? Over the last 2 yrs, Rico convinced several OHIO breeders, Mike Safley, and CABA fleece judges that YES! He is STILL THAT fine!
Folks! THIS is why we bring Rico back to The AlpacaRosa every year!. My freinds in Oregon can see how passionate we are about bringing
'Lingering fineness" to the forefront and spreading his amazin
Dam: Qolmesa Peruvian Crystal ARI#
1307245 Medium Brown Crystal's show record was amazing(many believe she has the best brown fleece they have ever seen) but her value is the championship legacy she is creating with her offspring.
This year another Tuscan black offspring, only a BOY this time! In 2008 Crystal gave birth to a TRUE BLACK female, named AROSA Dazzlyn! She has won 7 Championships ! This was a great way to follow up the previous year's 4X champion daughter, Laila who boasts a 17 micron at 3 years of age.
Crystal's genetics and showring dominance placed her as Co-Captain of The AlpacaRosa Fab5 Dream teamCrystal did not start her show career until she was 15 months old, winning 5 championships and 10 Blue Ribbons after the age of 15 months, rather amazing when you think about it!. Crystal is Simply the BEST brown huacaya fleeced girl we have ever seen. Her fleece rivals an "elite-fleeced" WHITE champion. When you are here visiting the farm, be sure to ask to see this girl. Her fleece is VERY dense with extrodinary bundling and a 19 micron and 17 CV!!!!!. Crystal has some very RARE genetics that you just cant buy in the United States. We know of only 2 full Peruvian Marcoyo females in the United States, they are both phenominal and we own them both!
We had much fun with Crystal in the showring, Now comes the fun with her offspring! We are excited about the breeding selection of our own Peruvian Landmark. This boy has simply impressed us from 3 weeks old, expressing incredible character along with 20 micron fleece as a 3 year old. He has extreme brightness, and a greasy feel to his fleece, and His head is awesome.

Do you like the fleece pic? you talk about a uniformity, Wow, this guy fleece is hard to spot a primary ANYWHERE. He is coming in as I expected ,.....VERY high frequency and amazing brightness. Weighing his Prime blanket this Spring, we found McDreamy to be extremely dense. His prime 15 micron blanket weighed 3.5 lbs !!!! Very impressive density indeed. If he were a 20afd, this would translate to 7lbs on a juvi frame, quite remarkable.
His 5X champion dam, Qolmesa Crystal (victor vaccoyo grandaughter), won Color Championship over 12 Snowmass females at the 2006 Futurity along with 4 other championships and several blues in 5 months of showing. Her first 3 offspring have won 11 championships among them. She is 7 years old and still maintains a 23 AFD with 17CV. McDreamys sire is Rico Suave(Hemingway, Accoyo Elite son), who Most recently won reserve championship at the first Maturity,.... as a 10 year old. His fiber histogram revealed that he was carrying a blanket with a 16.7 AFD. YES, Rico's 10 year old fiber was recorded at 16.7 AFD. Quite unfortnate about Ricos recent passing, his genetics are going to be sorely missed.
McDreamy is a boy that we were disppointed with at birth. Seems silly now, but he was born fawn out of his brown 5X Champion dam. She previously has birthed 2 black and 1 brown multiple champion offspring . So we had our hopes pretty high for color. As he matured his fleece came in wow-wow and so we are now quite pleased .
Comparing his 4 month old fleece to our 2 year old 15afd AROSA Balbina, its obvious that McDreamy has a micron down around 15-16, which is what we have come to expect from his sire Rico Suave. After all, Rico possessed a 16.7 AFD at age 10, and he regularly is sending this trait to his offspring.
But what is even more exciting about this boy is his high frequency crimp, and extreme brightness to go along with a very dense fleece.
Really looking foward to getting him in the ring this coming year.
We will be selling half ownership in the elite fleeced male.
