Sire: CCNF Elixir ARI#
32314304 Beige Meet the crown prince of CCNF. Show record aside, at the time he was born, Elixir was probably the best male alpaca our breeding program had produced in 16 years. Good thing too, as he and his paternal siblings had some mighty big shoes that we were asking them to fill in the years ahead. The son of three time Futurity Herdsire of the Year, Snowmass Elite Legend, and our multi-Champion Archangel daughter, CCNF Ascension, Elixir when conceived as a concept on paper was supposed to be good. We just had no idea that the stars were going to align quite as nicely as they did. The fleece fineness and phenotype of his maternal line combined with the other-worldly density and uniformity he got from his sire are virtually unmatched here at Cas-Cad-Nac Farm.
The 2015 AOA National Fleece Show essentially turned into Elixir's official coming out party as a proven Herdsire. He not only won the Champion Light Male and Judges' Choice Huacaya Male himself but more importantly, four of his offspring (CCNF Spittfire, CCNF Dropshot, CCNF Antares, and CCNF True Adoration) won Championship banners as well, leading to a championship sweep of both the Light and White Male color groups. Not too shabby for his first batch of kids. Since that time of course, the Elixir kids have been front and center in our show strings producing among other accolades, back to back Futurity Herdsire of the Year awards in both 2017 and 2018.
Of course one of the things we love about our boy, is that he can be bred to both light and dark females with equally exciting outcomes (Elixir is a classic dorsal beige). He continues to throw everything from whites to browns, all extremely bright and fine. If you have any doubts as to the prowess of this world-class Herdsire, you need only spend 10 minutes or so walking down the line of our show pens any spring or fall. The proof is most definitely in the progeny...
Elixir stands at stud here at CCNF from July 1st through October 1st before moving back to our partners' farm in Maryland for the fall season. As of July 1st, 2016 CCNF Elixir was closed for all future outside stud service. You can both look for his offspring in our sales listings though as well as a select number of females who are offered for sale already bred to him.
Dam: CCNF Claire de Lune ARI# 35370284 Medium Fawn
Description
Where to begin? While we obviously love this guy’s sire, CCNF Elixir - so much of what makes CCNF Moonstalker special comes as least as much from his maternal side as from his sire. By way of introduction…Moonstalker’s dam, CCNF Claire de Lune, is the youngest of 4 powerful and potent full siblings (all out of CCNF Moonlight and sired by Snowmass Matrix Majesty) we have in our breeding program: 1. The oldest sister, Moonbeam, when bred to Elixir (there will be a theme here) produced CCNF Valyria, who was the Judges’ Choice Female Huacaya at the Futurity in both 2018 and 2019 and her full sister, CCNF Eclipse; 2. The next oldest sister, CCNF Luna Majesty, also bred to Elixir (see, theme), has produced in consecutive years CCNF Sovereign-Legacy (2018 Futurity JC Male, now a working Herdsire here in our program), CCNF Nymeria (2019 AOA Supreme Champion Dark Female Huacaya), CCNF Triumvirate (as yet unshown due to the pandemic), and a very nice but as of now, unnamed kid brother born in June of 2020; 4. Claire de Lune's full brother, CCNF Moonraker, who is likewise a working Herdsire here in our program, just had HIS first daughter, CCNF Maid Marian, win the Fawn Female Championship at the 2020 AOA National Fleece Show! Look, we know that’s a lot to take in but the bottom line is the that the genetics just work a lot more often than not and the cross of the daughters of CCNF Moonlight with Elixir is so potent that we’ve pursued it and riffed on it for over 5 years now. In fact all things being equal, in 2021 as many as *seven* different female members of that maternal line will have crias born here at CCNF. Do you think we value that family line? The track record rather speaks for itself.
Though closer in color to his 3x Futurity Herdsire of the Year sire (Elixir is a dorsal beige) than his dam (Claire is MF), Moonstalker is just the latest of that greater family and genetic cross to come out to play and he most certainly has the goods to back up that rep, possessing a bright, fine, and uniform fleece all on a conformationally correct frame. Slated to be a member of our spring 2020 show team before the Futurity show was scrubbed, he will certainly be in contention whenever the halter show circuit opens up again, the only question being whether or not he is still ours?! Like all young males we sell, CCNF Moonstalker is of course sold with full reproductive guarantees.
