32817539 White If the Greeks had used a wooden alpaca instead of a horse to trick the Trojans, CCNF Sucrose could have been their model. In different circumstances, a male possessing Sucrose's qualities would be a breeding program's lead white/light Herdsire. That said, we were obviously tickled when his world-class dam produced him (fun fact: that's Sugar Drop's fleece shot that has anchored the "about alpacas" page on our web site for more than a decade now) after being bred to Snowmass Elite Legend, arguably the most influential Herdsire of the modern era in the US domestic herd.
Though we have used Sucrose selectively within our own herd and have in recent years started to go to him a bit more, he had the misfortune of coming of age at a time when some other Elite Legend son, a guy named CCNF Elixir, was already mature and putting crias on the ground. Which is not to say that Sucrose doesn't have an incredibly important role here: for not only is he the maternal grandson of the mighty Snowmass Messiah but he also has the distinction of being one of the few homegrown white Herdsires we have here (and whose genetics we understand and trust) who *doesn't* have CCNF Archangel in his pedigree. We love us The Arch and all that he's done for our program and our family but a bit of genetic diversity is good too! Though we have begun folding Sucrose's genetics back into our program (even breeding him to color too) for a few years now, you can also start to find Sucrose offspring filtering onto our sales listings.

Description
So stay with me here, as we’re going to go on a bit of a ride. Bonafide is a curious genetic cocktail having (in no particular order): MFI Peruvian Precocious, PPPeruvian Pachelbel, CCNF Archangel, Snomass Nova, Snowmass Elite Legend, 6P Monarch, and Snowmass Messiah all in his pedigree, amongst others. His dam, Belle of the Ball, is one of several PPP Pachelbel granddaughters we count ourselves lucky enough to still have in our breeding program and it was in fact her producing Bonafide’s eldest full sibling, CCNF Pirouette, when bred to CCNF Sucrose (CCNF Sugar Drop x Snowmass Elite Legend) that caused us to start using their sire more aggressively in our herd a couple of years back at a time when Sucrose’s older paternal brother, Elixir, was justifiably stealing a lot of the limelight. Though Snowmass Messiah (CCNF Sugar Drop’s sire) is still technically with us at age 21, we have for several years now viewed his grandson, Sucrose, as the male scion of that genetic line (please click on the copy of Bonafide’s regsistration ceratificate, btw, if you’re having trouble following this).
How much do we believe in the quality of Bonafide’s genetic cross? In addition to having another very nice (as yet unnamed) male cria at her side again this year, Belle of the Ball has been bred yet again for what will be version 5.0 of that pairing in the summer of 2021.
