30338814 White Snowmass Elite Legend is everything one could hope for in an elite huacaya Herdsire! A son of the legendary Snowmass Quechua, EL combines those qualities so often found in several alpacas all into one superb package: density, fineness, and uniformity the likes of which are rarely seen together, combined with a high propensity to pass those traits on to his progeny. He breeds as "true" as any Herdsire that we have seen here in 16 years of breeding alpacas and the results are really impossible to dispute. It is no coincidence that his offspring won both the male and female white championships at the 2011 Futurity, nor that one of his sons, CCNF Elixir, was both the Light Champion and as well as the Judges' Choice Huacaya Male at the 2012 Futurity. In fact 2012 marked the third year in a row that Elite Legend was awarded Futurity Light Herdsire of the Year, putting him in some very exclusive company! Elite Legend's offspring at CCNF have been nothing short of phenomenal and we anticipate his sons Elixir, CCNF Defiance, and CCNF Hyperion taking their places in our Herdsire stable.
After several years away from CCNF, we now co own EL again, though this time with the Deschner family of Tierra Prometida Alpacas in Texas. He generally spends his summers here in Vermont and then winters down there, not a bad gig really!

Description
If the Greeks had used a wooden alpaca instead of a horse to trick the Trojans, CCNF Sucrose could have been their model. In different circumstances, a male possessing Sucrose's qualities would be a breeding program's lead white/light Herdsire. That said, we were obviously tickled when his world-class dam produced him (fun fact: that's Sugar Drop's fleece shot that has anchored the "about alpacas" page on our web site for more than a decade now) after being bred to Snowmass Elite Legend, arguably the most influential Herdsire of the modern era in the US domestic herd.
Though we have used Sucrose selectively within our own herd and have in recent years started to go to him a bit more, he had the misfortune of coming of age at a time when some other Elite Legend son, a guy named CCNF Elixir, was already mature and putting crias on the ground. Which is not to say that Sucrose doesn't have an incredibly important role here: for not only is he the maternal grandson of the mighty Snowmass Messiah but he also has the distinction of being one of the few homegrown white Herdsires we have here (and whose genetics we understand and trust) who *doesn't* have CCNF Archangel in his pedigree. We love us The Arch and all that he's done for our program and our family but a bit of genetic diversity is good too! Though we have begun folding Sucrose's genetics back into our program (even breeding him to color too) for a few years now, you can also start to find Sucrose offspring filtering onto our sales listings.
