Sire: Ghost River Sol ARI#
30016955 Beige ** Congratulations to Rick and Vickie McCaffrey, Creston Valley Alpacas, on the purchase of this great herdsire!
Sol is a fabulous herdsire, he has silky soft fiber with beautiful architecture and outstanding conformation.
Sol's sire, Jolimont Peruvian Sweet William, has kept his fleece fineness over the years, and at 7 years of age his fiber stats were 22.3, 4.5, 20.2 and 4.7 >30. Sol's dam was Ghost River Alpaca's premier female, who produced a number of their best alpacas. She now resides on a farm in Pennsylvania.
Sol started his breeding career in 2008 and gave us two fantastic cria in 2009 - one female (MHR Misty's Selena) and one male (MHR Bonhomme de Neige). Both have the same silky soft fiber with bold crimp and excellent conformation.
Sol sired two more cria for us in 2010 - both males. They are of excellent quality and have done well in two halter shows and three fleece show as of the end of September 2011. MHR Misty's Thunder received a first place ribbon at the 2011 CNASF halter show in Red Deer and MHR Misty's Perfect Storm received 2nd place at the 2011 A.L.P.A.C.A. Spring Show in St. Albert.
Storm's fleece has been awarded White Colour Champion and Supreme Huacaya Fleece in all three fleece shows it has been entered so far this year - Olds Fibre Week / A.L.P.A.C.A. fleece show (over 150 fleeces), Navan Fair and Alpaca Ontario fleece shows.
Thunder's fleece received 2nd place at the Navan Fair and Alpaca Ontario fleeces shows and third place ribbon in the juvenile white fleece class at the Olds Fibre Week Fleece Show. His fleece went on to win Reerve White Colour Champion and Reserve Supreme Huacaya Fleece at the Navan Fair fleece show.
Eagle Creek Alpacas also has a couple of offspring from Sol. The first was born July 4, 2011 - ECA Asher, and he placed first in his class of Junior White Males at the Spring A.L.P.A.C.A. Show in 2012. The 2nd cria was born July 2, 2012 - initial comments we have received are, "He is a solid very light beige color, crimp from head to toe, super straight legs, very alert and will defnitely give ECA Asher a shove into the back seat (although Asher is no slouch). Also quite dense. Overall ....... outstanding!"
Proof is in the progeny ..... way to go Sol!!
Dam: ECA Saharah ARI#
31084963 Beige Saharah is just a sweetheart of a female. She has a soft, crimpy fleece with very nice density. Saharah is a robust female with genetics that are just as solid as her conformation and fibre.
Easy going and easy to handle, we always enjoy going out to the pasture when she is there, as she is always first in line to give kisses.
Saharah is a lovely female in terms of the quality of fibre she produces, as well as her solid conformation traits. We like the genetics she has to offer, and the value she adds as a fibre animal, given that she is still producing large quantities of useable fleece. As a production animal, her cria have proven themselves in the ring and are preparing to prove themselves as breeding animals themselves. Her son, Asher, consistently produces large quantities of dense, long, fine fleece, while maintaining a mild temperament, just like his dam.
Description
Asher is a gorgeous macho. Full of dense, crimpy fleece from his head to his toes, he is beautiful even before you even open his fleece. We have received numerous comments detailing how lovely he is, and how one can tell his fibre quality even from across a room. He has a quiet disposition and a solid, balanced build that makes him an impressive sight. Extremely soft and bright, his fibre just begs to be touched.
Easy going, with just enough tenacity to help him stand out amongst the other males, Asher is proving to be a gentleman with the ladies. We look forward to seeing the quality of cria he produces— we have no doubt that they will impress us.
