His kids still win big in the ring...2016 Gold Country Gathering KC son won RCC behind our own RR Dizzy Gillespie in Grey Male and KC daughter won Color Championship, grey female AND KC son won Black Color Championship (RR Lancelot)
KC took his first championship at 8 months of age. Since then, his fleece has maintained its length and fineness and he remains one of the best grey males in the country.
If you have a look at his Watt follicle testing results, the reasons will be obvious. The mix of black and white fibers in his grey is homogeneous in micron. He is the only alpaca, male or female, that carries the best characteristics of the Snowmass Peruvian Casanova and Guns n Roses lines. His production has not disappointed with multiple championships among his offspring.
His follicle density testing by Ian Watt is outstanding at his sampling at 2 years of age:
Density: 57.9mm/mm2
Seconday: Primary fiber ratio: 9.8:1
In-skin primary fiber diameter: 22.3 micron SD 3.2
In-skin secondary fiber micron: 13.7 micron SD 2.5
Comments:
"High density coupled with an excellent set of numbers for the secondary fiber population give this male potential as a significant sire in his color group. a group not known for its uniformity within each fiber population.
This is a significant animal for silver grey alpacas, where the black fibers tend to be very strong in micron and vary across the staple in most alpacas of this colour"
2010: 17.6/ 3.28/ 18.6/ CF 99.8%/ 90mm
2011: 19.2/ 3.31/ 17.3/ CF 99.3% / 100mm

Dam: RR MIDNIGHT KISS - SOLD ARI#
31620307 True Black Midnight Kiss has been a consistent producer of quality cria. She is our own Midnight Sun's first offspring and when we dialed in for a true black female out of a light fawn/recessive black male, we didn't even have to specify outstandingly promising superbright, superfine non fading, boldly and uniformly defined fiber.
BIOPSY RESULTS! 12/24/2012
Density: 58.6/mm
Secondary:Primary fiber ratio: 11.7:1
In-skin mean primary fiber diameter: 25.4 µ Standard Deviation: 2.9 µ Range: 20.7 µ to 31.0 µ
In-skin mean secondary fiber diameter: 18.4 µ Standard Deviation: 2.6 µ Range: 12.1 µ to 27.2 µ
Comments:
These are very good numbers for a true black female alpaca.
This is the highest testing density black female tested to date, has an excellent S:P ratio and very good SD’s for an alpaca of any color with some evidence of derived (branching) secondary follicles helping the secondary fiber population numbers across the board.
2015:Micron count: 21.3/ 4/4/ 20.4/ CF 95.7%
2014 Micron Count: 21.4/ 4.48/ 20.9/ CF 95.23
2013 Micron Count: 22.8/ 4.5/ 19.8/ CG 93.6%
For this pregnancy we have bred her to Legato Grigio, who has proven himself across our herd and established himself as a powerhouse of color genetics. We are very excited about this next cria.
Description
This lad is a fiber machine. We sheared him at a month of age and had it not been january, we could have sheared him again at 6 months of age. His fiber length is ridiculous...and that's not all.
We have come to expect outstanding quality in grey from RR Gun's Kit Carson over the last few years.
His 15 banners were well earned in the showring, and against some of the best in the country at the time.
KC's record is no great surprise if you look at his serial histograms, and find that there isvery little decline in metrics even at age 6, where he still recorded metrics of 22.5/4.0/17.6 and a comfort factor of 96.1%
Of course the skin biopsy could (and did) predict KC's sustained excellence in fleece production when done at age 2...not just for follicle density and S/P ratio, but for the nitty gritty of uniformity of micron.
Not sure what that means? Have a look at the analytics of KC's primary and secondary fiber populations for SD as seen in the root of the hair ("in skin"), and especially the difference "between" the mostly black primaries (in any grey) and light secondaries in measured micron.
Take a hand lens and look at Dante's fiber...you eye will confirm that the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.
But enough chauvinism...50% of Dante's DNA comes from mom, Midnight Kiss who has very superior analytics with a histogram of 21.3/4.4/20.7 and comfort factor of 95.9% at 5 years of age. If you check out her excellent skin follicle testing by biopsy.
Midnight Kiss is mom to Adagio, a black who proudly stood as stud in our herd and Cicero, a black who just championed under Peter Kennedy at the Green Country Show in 2015.
Chopped liver she ain't!
Dante isn't a "fluke". He's what we would have predicted and he is growing out nicely, but as of march. 2016 he is very ready to be shorn and show what we expect will be a very superior fleece as a yearling.
