Description
Let's be clear here: we wish Concerto didn't have a spot on his neck either. Having said that though, it says a great deal about how we rate him that in spite of that rather conspicuous flaw, he was nonetheless drafted into the CCNF Stud Barn in 2012.
The son of our legendary Herdsire, Supernova, and an elite white female in our foundation herd, Cadenza, Concerto has the all of the fineness, density, and staple length that only a small minority of alpacas possess all at the same time. His dam was originally out here a few years ago after her owner, Pamela Ray of Xanadu Alpacas, had a won a breeding to SuperNova which we had donated to help out the Quechua Benefit. We came to like Cadenza so much that after several months we asked Pamela if she would sell her to us. Long story short, Cadenza ended up as our communal Christmas present to each other that year. We feel we chose wisely: Cadenza would go on to win Championship and Reserve Championship banners at the AOBA National Fleece Show in both 2010, 2011, and 2012, the last time as a 4 year old.
Though Concerto, as Cadenza's first cria, was born 2 months or so after SuperNova's death in July of 2010 from cancer, we find it fitting that he should now hold down a spot in the Stud Barn like his sire first did almost 10 years ago. Concerto is now a proven Herdsire with cria on the ground and represents a remarkable value with a stud fee of only $2,000.
