Congratulations to our friend Annie Hunt of Willow Wind Farm, for acquiring a share of Avatar.
Please contact Annie about Avatar breedings.
We are thrilled with Avatar's newest creations - including Delphi's Avella - The 2017 National grey female halter Champion at just over 6 months of age. And congratulations to Avella's new owners, Debbie and Dale Hoerl; Alpacas of Moose Creek Ranch!
Many more Avatar crias will be arriving in 2018.
Avatar has beautiful crimpy, dense, and fine fleece, but what separates him from other outstanding herd sires, is his phenomenal handle - due to both exceptional uniformity, and very bright, low scale fiber.
Cameron Holt, AOBA Senior Judge Trainer and world wide fiber expert, gave the following scores to Avatar's fleece:
Fineness: 15 out of 15 ; Handle: 5 out of 5 ; Uniformity of micron: 7 out of 8 ; Crimp: 8.5 out of 10 ; Density: 3 out of 5 ; Brightness: 8 out of 10 ; Lack of medullation: 8 out of 10.
His daughter Delphi's Lailah won Color Champion Grey Female Fleece at the 2012 Nationals. His son Delphi's Rama won a Blue Ribbon at the 2012 National Fleece Show, (and then brown Color Champion at the Tenessee Waltz Fleece Show). These two Avatar kids insured Delphi's win of the 2012 Classic Cup for fleece, at the 2012 Nationals.
Another standout offspring is Kanaka - an 8X Champion with 1% EPD's in both SD and >30; and 2% EPD's in fineness. While we don't participate in the program, we agree Avatar's son Kanaka's EPD stats do reflect his sire's strong suits.
Avatar's many other crias now include Six AOBA National Halter or Fleece Champions, several Futurity Champions, and many many many Multi-Champion and Blue Ribbon show winners, in addition to the winners of many Special Awards, such as the Best Brightness award at the National Fleece Show - the first time this award has been awarded to a grey.
Please enjoy viewing some of his lovely crias and their fleeces, shown below.

Dam: Skyline's Dolce-Latte ARI#
30852921 Medium Fawn Dolce-Latte is a beautiful vicuna colored Med. Fawn gal with an impressive set of Accoyo and Grey genetics. Dolce-Latte’s dam, Clarita, is a white El Nino daughter out of a Rose Grey Camilio dam. Her sire, Snowmass Nova’s Nuance, is a Bay Black Nova son, and has two well known Grey Grandfathers, Snowmass Casanova and Incan Magic. This combination of Clarita and Nuance was a winning one for us before! Dolce-Latte’s full sister, Choco-Latte, sold in the AOBA 2007 Auction for $27,000. Like her sister, Dolce Latte has an extremely dense fleece with good character and a sturdy frame. Her first cria was born in May 2010; we were pleased not only with the quality of her cria, but also how easy the birth was and at how quickly Dolce-Latte took to motherhood.
Description
Danny Boy is definitely an eye-catching male and it is no wonder when you look at his pedigree. Danny Boy’s father is the famous Avatar who has produced many award-winning cria and is one of the premier Rose Grey herdsires found in the US. Danny Boy’s Dam, Dolce Latte, is also very impressive as she is an El Nino and Nova granddaughter and has Grey genetics on both sides of her pedigree.
Besides this impressive line of genetics, Danny Boy also has an outstanding fleece. He is fine, 16.5 AFD, and has density as well. His fiber is extremely bright, has nice crimp and had over 4” of staple length with only 288 days of growth. We love his beautiful head, which makes him stand out in the pasture, and enjoy Danny Boy’s even personality. He is one of our favorites on the farm and we feel confident you will enjoy adding this young man to your herdsire row.
