Grey Royal Ring of Fire son!
CCNF Smoke Ring
Huacaya, Herdsire (Male), Unproven | Light Rose Grey
ARI# 31425544, D.O.B. 7/17/2010,
Sire: CCNF Royal Ring of Fire ARI#
851781 Dark Fawn Ringo has been second only to Legacy Gold in his production of elite calibre offspring. It is no coincidence that some of our breeding program's most decorated show animals (including three Futurity Champions) have been his kids. Was it a coincidence that Ring of Fire had 4 daughters in the Fawn Female Championship at the 2011 NAAS (including 2 juvis in the front row)? Probably not. Ring of Fire is proudly co owned with our friends and cohorts at Alpaca Grove!
Dam: Maid Marian ARI#
825359 Light Rose Grey Her crias born here have all been front line show animals for us: Jessminda, Jasmine, Marion, Magellan, Annabeth, and now Smoke Ring. She is due in July with Smoke Ring's full sibling.
Description
Smoke Ring is the answer to a question we had not previously asked of Ring of Fire: could he throw a rose grey? The answer it would seem was an emphatic "yes!"
Smoke Ring's dam, Maid Marian, has the trivial distinction of being one of only two production age grey foundation females in our herd (the other is her daughter, Annabeth). She was brought into the fold 9 years ago, originally to breed with Legacy Gold. It is not a coincidence that 6 of her kids have held down slots on their birth class's respective show strings. Though we love Smoke Ring's dam and all that she does for us, the reality is that we do not generally speaking choose to define ourselves by the grey alpacas which we produce. Were this magnificent young male to stay here into adulthood there would technically be a grand total of 3 grey females for him to breed with, and two of them would be his dam and his maternal sister, the other is his paternal sister.
Though also available for sale (you can see his listing in the "Alpacas for Sale section of our web site), we are also making him available for outside stud service this coming breeding season and would argue that the combination of his phenotype and fiber characteristics (17.3 AFD at age 2) puts him in fairly exclusive company for a grey Herdsire.
