Prince Alderaan of Rosehaven
Huacaya, Male, | Medium Fawn
ARI# 31878975, D.O.B. 8/22/2009, 3/4 Peruvian
Sire: Captain Nemo ARI#
849790 Dark Rose Grey We love Nemo. We all love Nemo, from our partners the Sweeney's at Celtic Criations to all who come to our farm. He is proud, he is stately, he is charming and he truly may be one of the smartest alpacas I have ever met. He definitely knows that he is king over his world, he controls his herd, and they all are much better behaved with Nemo around.
Nemo has many wonderful traits that he passes onto his progeny, from incredible conformation, exquisite fineness, lovely crimp, and excellent density. He stamps them - and you can always tell a Nemo cria. Don't get me wrong - they aren't cookie cutters. They are distinct and they have an attitude and a presence that is recognizable to all of us. And he also passes on his great temperment and his intelligence. You know the saying that alpacas don't challenge fences? Well someone forgot to tell Nemo. He challenges them all. We swear he knows how to pick locks. He knows how to escape from any fence, gate, paddock, or arena around. I have seen him shimmy under a fence - like a marine crawling under fencing in boot camp. And he has taught his sons. And this is because he has a one track mind - girls.
Here's a story: One late night Nemo decided it was time for a panty raid. And at 1am in the morning, he pried open a gate, he broke out of "camp"; and led 12 very very happy males over to the girls barn. The girls were thrilled, the boys were thrilled, perhaps I wasn't as thrilled......I had to get them all back. I know he was the instigator because i saw him do it. But to his credit, he also helped me corral one of the most indignant boys and get him haltered and led back down to the boys barn. Nemo pranced back to the boys barn, as proud as could be.
Ever since that night Nemo has been my buddy.
Nemo has many fine attributes other than being a girl loving escape artist. Nemo is as rare as they come... Full Peruvian, solid dark rose grey!!! This male has it all...color, fineness, crimp, charisma, presence, and atti
Dam: Rosehaven's Princess Leah ARI#
1031836 White We think that Princess Leah is the sleeper in our herd. She has beautiful white fleece that you normally don't find on a chilean/peruvian cross. She won her first blue ribbon at the Empire Extravaganza in 2005. Julio Sumar stated that though he was judging her in the shorn class, he thought that her fleece was very nice. She also took 4th in a very tough class at her very first show (and yes, we were one of those who hadn't trained her to lead at that point....). Kevin O'Leary had remarked that since she was so flighty it was hard to judge her, but she was good tempered and he required to see her back in the ring that following spring. Needless to say, she is something special!
Princess Leah proved to be a good mom with her first cria back in November 2007. She produced a handsome white boy out of Snowmass Invincible. We then bred her to Captain Nemo the following spring. Her dam, Princess, had a beautiful brown boy from Nemo, and we are hoping for some of the same from Princess Leah. We were thrilled that she gave birth on August 22, 2009 to a beautiful light rose grey tuxedo boy, Prince Alderaan!! In late September, 2010, she gave birth to a lovely dark fawn boy who looked like he would fulfill the promise of all his previous brothers and sisters.
Princess Leah is a wonderful girl, always the first to the fence to see what is going on. As you can tell by her pictures she has a lovely carriage. What you can't see in the pictures is the nice handle and character of her fleece. She is extremely soft with consistent crimp from end to end. Her mother Princess has been a great production female and she seems to have passed that right onto Leah. Her sire is The Double E Ranch's dark fawn macho El Senior who has helped trigger great fleeces and presence on all his offspring.
This gal is known for her 2X champion son, Invicible's White Satin Knight (aka: Funky White Boy). We are very proud of him, and extra proud of Leah for having him. Prince Alderaan, her other
Description
Prince Alderaan of Rosehaven is a 3/4 peruvian boy from our Captain Nemo and Princess Leah. This is Leah's 2nd cria and 2nd boy. Her first Invincible's white Satin Knight is a 2x White Color Champion. Her 3rd cria - Diablo is also a 2x champion. Prince Alderaan fell into that category - where he really is a rose grey - but has to be classified in the fawn classes. Though he always got a ribbon - he could not compete well with the true fawns. He is really a diamond in the rough, and he could help your farm along too. take a look at him, you might like what you see.
