Huacaya, Herdsire (Male), | Dark Rose Grey

Sire: Captain Nemo ARI#
849790 Dark Rose Grey We love Nemo. We all love Nemo, from our partners the Sweeney's at Celtic Criations to all who come to our farm. He is proud, he is stately, he is charming and he truly may be one of the smartest alpacas I have ever met. He definitely knows that he is king over his world, he controls his herd, and they all are much better behaved with Nemo around.
Nemo has many wonderful traits that he passes onto his progeny, from incredible conformation, exquisite fineness, lovely crimp, and excellent density. He stamps them - and you can always tell a Nemo cria. Don't get me wrong - they aren't cookie cutters. They are distinct and they have an attitude and a presence that is recognizable to all of us. And he also passes on his great temperment and his intelligence. You know the saying that alpacas don't challenge fences? Well someone forgot to tell Nemo. He challenges them all. We swear he knows how to pick locks. He knows how to escape from any fence, gate, paddock, or arena around. I have seen him shimmy under a fence - like a marine crawling under fencing in boot camp. And he has taught his sons. And this is because - he has a one track mind - girls.
One late night Nemo decided it was time for a panty raid. And at 1am in the morning, he pried open a gate, he broke out of "camp"; and led 12 very very happy males over to the girls barn. The girls were thrilled, the boys were thrilled, perhaps I wasn't as thrilled......I had to get them all back. I know he was the instigator because i saw him do it. But to his credit, he also helped me corral one of the most indignant boys and get him haltered and led back down to the boys barn. Nemo pranced back to the boys barn, as proud as could be.
Ever since that night Nemo has been my buddy.
Nemo has many fine attributes other than being a girl loving escape artist. Nemo is as rare as they come... Full Peruvian, solid dark rose grey!!! This male has it all...color, fineness, crimp, charisma, presence, and attitude!! His fle
Dam: OMA Isabella ARI#
1332728 Medium Silver Grey Isabella made her television debut on the View January 25th. She was incredibly poised and well behaved. I wish we could say we had something to do with that - but I think it's just in her genes. one of the hosts of the View thought she looked like Liza Minelli..... (LOL)
Isabella is a full peruvian from impressive genetic lines. Her sire is SA Peruvian Dark Knight whose sire is Peruvian Camelot. On Her dam's side, Bella Teresa is the daughter of CPeruvian Jaxon. Isabella has a lovely topknot, a nice soft handle, good crimp and excellent conformation. To watch her move in the fields is like watching poetry in motion. She is a delight to watch. And she is a picture hound! I have tried to take so many different pictures of other alpacas in her pasture and everytime Isabella trys to monopolize the photo. I have more noses and walk thrus of Isabella than any other alpaca. She's a hoot! Isabella was bred to Snowmass Peruvian Casanova and had a beautiful grey boy. He was compromised in his first days, but pulled through, thus we named him Casanova's Braveheart. His is a story to hear about. And he has attitude!!
Her next cria was from our own Captain Nemo, another beautiful medium rose grey we named "Silver Crown". We are expecting another Captain Nemo cria in the fall of 2011.
Description
This three time Reserve Champion was born on a Saturday morning during our first farm seminar, Silver Crown has a flair for the dramatic which is exhibited not only by his feisty personality but also by his dramatic silver gray coloring. He entertained not only our seminar attendees but also a contractor who was pouring concrete that day, who exclaimed "you just had a baby and it fell on its head!"
Silver Crown took his first blue under Jude Anderson who said he "had the most consistent grey throughout his fleece that she had ever seen in a modern grey, and that his handle was absolutely lovely to the touch". He just took his 2nd blue at the new New Jersey show. We have lots of high hopes for this guy.
In the spring at the Empire Fleece event Silver Crown took his first banner for Reserve. Wini LeBreque was the judge and raved over his fineness and crimp style. She said that the Champion and Reserve were a 1/2 a point apart - and hard to tell the difference. And Silver Crown is different. A modern rose grey with incredible fineness and good style and consistent crimp and color running from tip to tail. At his first spring show of 2010 - 2 weeks after his reserve - he repeated with another reserve in halter class. and a surprise to all of us, because he took 2nd in his class. So a rare treat when the 2nd place moves up and takes a reserve banner!!! Excellent for Silver Crown. We think he is like a fine wine... he will only get better with age.....
