Sire: JLFA Casanova's Peruvian Frango ARI#
30836471 Light Rose Grey Legacy Herdsire | Casanova Son | Proven Champion Producer
JLFA Casanova’s Peruvian Frango was an exceptional herdsire whose influence continues to be seen throughout our breeding program. As one of the top sons of the legendary Snowmass Peruvian Casanova, Frango carried forward a powerful and proven genetic line known for producing champions.
Frango was a multiple blue ribbon winner and earned a Color Champion banner at the 2009 Spring Bling show. He was admired for his fine fleece, excellent density, and long staple length, along with a compact frame, strong bone, and overall solid conformation.
His impact as a producer has been outstanding. Frango consistently passed on superior quality and vibrant color, producing true blacks, rich deep reds, rose and silver greys, and even unique pattern genetics—seen in notable offspring like Leviticus. His ability to contribute both quality and color diversity made him a valuable asset to any breeding program.
Frango’s dam, NESA Shakoka Mint (Medium Rose Grey, Full Peruvian), was a successful show female and a strong foundation dam at Likada Farms. His sire, Snowmass Peruvian Casanova, was a world-renowned champion-producing herdsire and the high seller at the 2002 Celebrity Futurity Auction at $147,000. Casanova’s legacy includes multiple award-winning offspring, including Snowmass Nova, further cementing the strength of this lineage.
Though Frango is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through his offspring and the continued success of his bloodlines. He remains an important part of our program’s foundation and history.
Dam: Zodiac's Black Widow ARI#
30478558 Bay Black Zodiac's Black Widow a 2 Time Color Champion was sired by our Two Time Black Color Champion Oro Negro.
Her dam is Eponine a 100% Chilean by Danko. Danko is a phenomenal silver grey herdsire. He is well-known in the alpaca world for throwing champions of all colors, especially grey and black. He has excellent strong bone structure, extensive fiber coverage and passes a typey conformation on to his offspring. The fleece of his cria tend to exhibit very uniform and tight crimp throughout the blanket and have done exceptionally well in the show ring. Amazingly, he has sired at least one champion at AOBA in each year since 1999 in a range of colors from fawn, to brown, black and grey.
Danko was Sire of the high-selling alpacas at the 2000 AOBA auction.
Eponine's 2005 micron results were very good at: MC=22.8, SD=4.6, CV=20.2, CF=94.7, Curve=44.7(40)
Zodiac's Black Widow has it all just like dad, mom, and Danko. Perfect conformation and beautiful Bay Black crimp on a solid frame with extreme density.
Eponine's Show Record:
Great Alpaca Midwest Festival 2003-1st out of 6, and Reserve Color Champion, Wisconsin Spring Fling 2003 - 1st, PAOBA 2004 1st Fleece, 2004 Wisconsin Spring Fling - 2nd Halter, 2004 SEAA Tennessee Show-3rd Halter & 1st in Fleece, AOBA National Show 2003-3rd Full Fleece Halter, Northern Illinois Alpaca Show 2003-3rd place fleece, MaPaca 2004-3rd Halter, MIAF 2004 Fall Show 3rd fleece, 2004 Kentucky Classic - 4th Halter, Kentucky Classic 2003- 4th, Michigan Int'l Alpaca Fest. 2003-4th Place Fleece.
Black Widow was bred to Leprecan in 2010 and had a brown male cria born named L Hershey Kiss born 8/30/11.
Black Widow had a MSG female cria from Frango on 6/1/13 named Frango's Francesca not included in this sale.
Black Widow has had many other nice crias over the years, and is bred to Frango for a Spring 2023 cria. Could it possibly another Levi? Half Black and Half Gray, so unique.
Description
Rare Split-Color Male | Proven Producer | Unique Genetics
Take a look at this truly one-of-a-kind male. Levi is an incredibly rare alpaca—born half black and half light silver grey, split right down the middle. His striking coloration is unlike anything else, making him a standout not only on the farm but in the industry.
Levi was born in 2017, sired by JLFA Casanova’s Peruvian Frango (grey Casanova son) and out of Zodiac’s Black Widow (true black), combining powerful grey and black genetics into one exceptional package.
He has already proven himself as a producer. His first cria arrived in 2019, and they have been nothing short of impressive. His son Mario made a strong debut in the show ring, earning 4 First Place ribbons and 1 Second Place at just 6 months old.
Levi carries two distinct fleece types:
His grey fleece is very fine with high-amplitude crimp
His black fleece is soft with a bolder, more defined crimp style
This dual fleece characteristic makes him especially unique and adds versatility to his genetic contribution.
Levi consistently produces eye-catching cria with strong fleece traits and interesting color patterns. His offspring reflect his uniqueness, making him an exciting option for breeders looking to add something truly different to their program.
Levi is a rare opportunity to incorporate distinctive color genetics, proven production, and strong fleece traits into your herd.
