Magdalena/Elixir son!
CCNF Magnar
Huacaya, Herdsire (Male), Unproven | Light Fawn
ARI# 35370765, D.O.B. 10/14/2016,
Sire: CCNF Elixir ARI#
32314304 Beige Meet the crown prince of CCNF. Show record aside, at the time he was born, Elixir was probably the best male alpaca our breeding program had produced in 16 years. Good thing too, as he and his paternal siblings had some mighty big shoes that we were asking them to fill in the years ahead. The son of three time Futurity Herdsire of the Year, Snowmass Elite Legend, and our multi-Champion Archangel daughter, CCNF Ascension, Elixir when conceived as a concept on paper was supposed to be good. We just had no idea that the stars were going to align quite as nicely as they did. The fleece fineness and phenotype of his maternal line combined with the other-worldly density and uniformity he got from his sire are virtually unmatched here at Cas-Cad-Nac Farm.
The 2015 AOA National Fleece Show essentially turned into Elixir's official coming out party as a proven Herdsire. He not only won the Champion Light Male and Judges' Choice Huacaya Male himself but more importantly, four of his offspring (CCNF Spittfire, CCNF Dropshot, CCNF Antares, and CCNF True Adoration) won Championship banners as well, leading to a championship sweep of both the Light and White Male color groups. Not too shabby for his first batch of kids. Since that time of course, the Elixir kids have been front and center in our show strings producing among other accolades, back to back Futurity Herdsire of the Year awards in both 2017 and 2018.
Of course one of the things we love about our boy, is that he can be bred to both light and dark females with equally exciting outcomes (Elixir is a classic dorsal beige). He continues to throw everything from whites to browns, all extremely bright and fine. If you have any doubts as to the prowess of this world-class Herdsire, you need only spend 10 minutes or so walking down the line of our show pens any spring or fall. The proof is most definitely in the progeny...
Elixir stands at stud here at CCNF from July 1st through October 1st before moving back to our partners' farm in Maryland for the fall season. As of July 1st, 2016 CCNF Elixir was closed for all future outside stud service. You can both look for his offspring in our sales listings though as well as a select number of females who are offered for sale already bred to him.
Dam: CCNF Magdalena ARI#
1154702 Medium Fawn Reigning matriarch of the most powerful maternal line in our farm's history.
Description
There truly is only one reigning queen in the Cas-Cad-Nac Farm foundation herd and her name is Magdalena. From the time she was born in ’04 to her aging but still undeniably powerful dam (PPeruvian Jesusa, who had arrived just a year prior with Maggie’s older full brother, Golden Sovereign, at side as part of the female component of our purchase of the North American Alpaca Stud) we knew that Magdalena was something truly special. Taken with her niece, CCNF Moonlight (Golden Sovereign x Snowmass Peruvian Sunstarlight), who is only two years her junior, they are the undisputed matriarchs of that most prepotent maternal line. It is a family group that taken in full, has had more representatives on our show teams that any other line in our breeding program’s 24 year history. So that was a really long introduction to basically say that CCNF Magnar’s dam is a bonafide living legend. Don’t take our word for it though, check the AOA database: it’s all there.
So how do you know you’re in pretty good shape from a pedigree standpoint? How about when your sire who is a 2-time Futurity Herdsire of the Year is arguably the weaker link (sorry Elix) on your registration certificate? Though it’s all relative, the bottom line is that Magnar is stacked. Though he has not had as splashy of an entrance on the show circuit as various family members from both his maternal and paternal side, to underestimate him would be foolish. Dense, fine, uniform and bright, and with a propensity to hold that fineness over time - are traits not nearly as common as one might believe. In this case, we are happy to share these genetics and offer them as a relative value for outside stud service. We are also happily expecting his first crias here in our foundation herd in 2021...watch this space for updates.
