Snowmass King Leonidus daughter!
King Leo's Tiny Dancer
Huacaya, Female, Proven | Beige
ARI# 35198840, D.O.B. 5/23/2018,
Sire: Snowmass King Leonidus ARI#
31139625 White What can we say? Banners, Blue ribbons, amazing bloodlines (have you looked at his ARI?), Champion offspring. Why are you NOT breeding to this amazing specimen of everything you can ask for in a herdsire?
Leonidus' Layla took a 2nd place in the dark brown juvenile halter show and a 1st place in the Small Breeders Show at MAPACA 2017, and a 1st place in the 2017 PAOBA Breeders Showcase. She's the pretty brown one with the blue ribbon -- she is lovely, and if you choose to breed to Leo, yours can be too!
Leo consistently stamps his progeny with his phenotype, density, and fineness. He is maintaining phenomenal density well into his breeding years! Leo's previous owner did not do a histogram, but we can tell you his offspring are winning ribbons of their own, and all who have been tested have fiber under 20 microns. If you'd like histograms from some of his crias, just ask and we'll happily forward them to you. Check out the pictures of Leo crias at the bottom of the photo column. None prettier!
And Leo's biopsy (May, 2014) reports are in! Density: 58.6 mm; Secondary:Primary fiber ratio: 9.8:1; In-skin mean primary fiber diameter: 24.8 microns SD 3.2 microns range 19.9 to 31.5 microns; secondary fiber diameter: 19.8 microns SD 2.8 microns range 14.2 to 19.8 microns. Everything we thought we knew about this male is TRUE!
Discount breedings are available for champion females, multiple breedings, and breedings to Snowmass Quechua descendants. Give us a call!
You know you want to breed to him -- what are you waiting for?
2018 EPDs are available by clicking on the EPD link above right. Besides being top 1% for %M, he's top 5% for AFD and %F>30, and top 10% for SDAFD, SF (spin fineness), and MC (mean curvature). He's still amazing and holding his own after all these years! We are so proud!!
Dam: Inspiration's Keep the Faith ARI#
32456103 Dark Fawn Her mom's name, Esperanza, means "hope," and Faith is keeping it going! With Royal Fawn in her dam's lineage, and everyone else in her sire's side, we have lots of faith in this little girl!
And that faith is not misplaced! Here are the judges' comments from the 2015 VAOBA and the 2016 CABO fleece shows:
Though she didn't place in the VAOBA show, Judge Wini Labreque gave her a score of 18/20 for fineness and handle, 8/10 for brightness, 6/7 for length and 4.5/5 for color. Must have been a tough class!
But she took 2nd at CABO with a total score of 73! Judge Kathy Klay gave her 18.5 on fineness and handle, 7.5/8 on micron uniformity, 6.5/7 for uniformity in length, and 5/5 in uniformity of color. Her comment: "Awesome fineness and handle."
Service Sire: Poseidon Isaac's Matoskah ARI#
32350692 Beige Due Date: 5/21/2025 Matoskah is Lakota for Spirit Bear, and Matt is just as special as that bear is to the Lakota. His genetics include Royal Fawn (can't get those any more!), Caligula, Dom Lucilio, and Legacy. His grandsire, Poseidon, lives in Texas. The offspring of Isaac, Matt's sire, live primarily on the west coast, so this is a rare opportunity to add those champion producing genetics to your herd.
Matt's dam, Georgianna of Legacy's Conclusive, brings even more to the table. Her line is out of Canada, and includes Legacy, Conclusive, Snowmass Legacy's Golden Boy, and Maxmilian II. Her vicuna like features include incredible fineness and hand, and she has the most beautiful eyes you've ever seen!
So much for genetics -- now about Matt himself! Judge Amanda Vandenbosch couldn't say enough about him when she awarded him 2nd place at the Southern Select in 2013. She commended his conformation, fineness, density, organization, and attitude. Her best comment: "This is what we should all be breeding for!"
Matt's skin biopsy report (May, 2014) is in! Ian Watts, of Alpaca Consulting Services, USA says Matt is in the top 4 animals he's tested, and his density, a 83.6/mm is the highest he's seen! Secondary:Primary fiber ratio: 11.0/1; in-skin primary fiber diameter 27.0 microns; SD 3.7 microns; range 18.4 microns to 35.0 microns; in-skin mean secondary fiber diameter 21.6 microns; SD 3.0 microns; range 13.5 microns to 21.6 microns.
Looking for brightness? Matt's got it! He won the judges' choice award for brightness at the 2014 MAPACA Jubilee. And at shearing in April, 2015 the shearer commented that if the moon is full he must glow in the dark. His fleece is BEAUTIFUL! Take a look at the pictures, but the camera can't capture just how soft and fine that fleece is. If you want to feel it just ask and we'll send a small sample.
For more information about EPDs, what they mean, and how to use the information, please go to the AOA website: www.alpacainfo.com. Search for BGF Poseidon Isaac's Matoskah. In the meantime, if you want fineness you've found it! Just look where Matt ranks for average fiber diameter (AFD), percent of fibers greater than 30 microns (%F>30), spinning fineness (SF), and % of medullated fibers - 2023 EPDs put him in the top 1%! He is in the top 5% for SDAFD, and in the top 15% for mean curvature (MC).
His most recent histogram results are in and added to this page. At the age of 12 his mean fiber diameter is 23.4 and his comfort factor is almost 92% - at the age of 12! Looking to make nice yarn? Matt is your guy!
Matt is the total package with several offspring already winning in the show ring.
We would be happy to consider a swap of breedings to diversify genetics!
