Contender------the son of our Cereza Negra and our Cascade of Sparks was one of those crias that you just know is special. Cereza has never disappointed us with the quality of her offspring, and the trend has certainly continued. This beautiful black male has one of the most consistent fleeces I have ever seen. His fleece is the same even down his legs and onto his belly. Beautiful true black fleece that is fine, with brilliant shine, impressive staple length and consistent crimp across his body. His frame is solid and strong. All traits we seek in our herdsires.
This beautiful male is the first cria from our Cascade. This is proof that show wins are not the only thing to consider when choosing breedings. Cascade did well in the showring, despite a tender fleece. We knew he had the characteristics we wanted so we allowed him to prove he could pass those traits on. He has done just that and has earned the right to prove it again and again.
Contender entered his first show at the age of 7 months and was awarded a blue ribbon in a class of 11 black juvenile males. He continued the trend by taking the Res. Champion banner. We knew he was nice, but it is wonderful to have his attributes confirmed by a respected judge, Amanda Vandenbosch. Contender followed that with a 2nd place at the highly competitive MAPACA and a blue at PAOBA. The judge strongly considered Contender for a banner at PAOBA and raved about his potential during his remarks.
Fall 2013, Contender won the Blue in a very competitive class of 15 black males. Kevin O'Leary sent him forward immediately after evaluating Contender and only halfway through the class.
Contender WINS First and Reserve Champion in fleece at the 2014 AOA/World Fleece Show. He also placed 2nd in an extremely competitive halter class of 15. Many of the males in this class were multi-champion males themselves.
Another win for Contender. In a very competitive black class, Contender won blue and then went on to be awarded the Res Champ Black Male at Empire Extravaganza 2014.
Dam: MFI Peruvian Enigmatic ARI#
32457773 True Black Okay, I'm a sucker for black alpacas. This beautiful female is packed with powerhouse genetics, not the least of which is my all-time favorite, MFI Peruvian Black Mesquite. Also on the dam's side is 5Peruvian Black Ice 9069. Her sire is none other than MFI Peruvian Formula 1 (Futurity Champ) who boasts Bueno, DonJulio, Mr. President, Augusto in his background. Enigmatic (Matty) has it all........ beautiful phenotype, soft, dense fleece with a wonderful hand and it's black!!!! We bought Enigmatic so that we would have another outstanding female to breed to our black Champion males. Cover Girl is sired by 5C's Contender and she has her own listing. She will be bred to 5C's Captain Midnight for her 2021 cria.
I always say, "I wish every alpaca on my farm looked like Enigmatic" She's a beauty. Matty just delivered a beautiful TB male sired by Snowmass Matrix Midnight. We're excited to watch this male grow up.
2021's cria will be sired by Captain Midnight.
Service Sire: Bevo of Copper Ridge ARI#
30336278 Bay Black Due Date: 10/21/2021 My Favorite alpaca!!!!
We spotted this young male at the AOBA conference and were immediately intrigued by what we saw. Bevo is what is referred to as "The Total Package" and five separate judges have mentioned just that. He has incredible density and coverage, and tons of character in his soft-handling fleece. His large boned yet compact frame make a second look common. Under the term "alpaca phenotype" you just might find a picture of Bevo. When we teach people about conformation, we use Bevo as the example. These characteristics are all a must for any breeding program. Bevo's calm, confident, gentle personality just add to his total appeal.
Although Bevo has won in both bay black and dark indefinite classes; his lineage of silver gray, true black, brown, fawn and beige from Chile, Bolivia and Peru shine in this package of diversity. We have bred him to females of a broad spectrum of colors to find his true identity. His first cria have arrived and they are truly amazing. They all have his heavy bone and perfect conformation (see Photo)The fleeces are very dense, very fine, with brightness and in the majority of his crias the color of the dam. The colors range from light fawn to true black. Of the offspring on our farm, the highest AFD of fleece was 19.0. We think that's pretty remarkable.
Bevo's famous mid-western sire Providence Rennes, is the multiple blue ribbon winning, half-brother of Dom Lucilio. And Bevo's mother is out of Desparado, a blue ribbon winner at both AOBA and MAPACA. These are fantastic and uniquely crossed bloodlines now available in Pennsylvania.
At age 15 Bevo's fleece is still remarkably consistent, exhibits beautiful structure and he continues to amaze our shearer with his density.
We proudly co-own Bevo with Chris and Lori Works of Kendall Creek Farms.
Can you tell...... we love this guy!!!!
Description
5C's Cover Girl and her current breeding represent 10 banners. This TB Contender (6banners) daughter has a beautiful true black fleece like both of her parents. Cover Girl has been a solid contender at her every show. Placing third isn't usually what we hope for but, given the competition, was actually pretty exciting. The judges have remarked about the beautiful brightness and consistency to her fleece she very dense too.. This female is a solid foundation female.
Cover Girl and Chicago presented us with a beautiful rose grey female in July. We have named her Centerfold and she's looking promising.
Cosmopolitan is Cover Girl's 2020 cria, sired by Greytness. This little female is currently fawn, but she sure is trying to be grey with her classic grey pattern. No matter what the color, this fleece is stunning. It's dense and loaded with curls. This girl looks as promising as her older sister. Cover Girl does it again!!!
We've decided to go back to our tried and true male Bevo to sire Cover Girl's 2021 cria.
