Sire: RR LEGATO GRIGIO - SOLD TO CASCADE ROSE ALPACAS ARI#
31620031 Dark Silver Grey Currently breeding in WA state...
Legato Grigio is the assimilation of the 2 most important lines that we wanted to bring to our grey breeding program. He comes by his elite fleece not unexpectedly.
Dad is RR Gun's A'Blazin' who has now shown by both histograms, and follicle skin testing that he is consistantly producing fineness, density and uniformity and was a 15 time banner winner.
Mom, Snowmass Golden Dreams, has been one of our best producers. We have amassed countless banners from her offspring, among whom is our pre=potent herdsire Snowmass Midnight Sun.
LG has demonstrated his pepotency repeatedly in his production. AS we had hoped, he is able to transmit solid grey as a dominant, in many shades. His progeny, as tested by histograms and biopsies (to date) attest to his prepotency...take a minute to check the stats on his offspring. There is but one to date that is not still in our herd...we have retained them all.
His non grey production has championed in solid colors, fawn and black in particular.
His pattern appears to be a spotting, not tuxedo , pattern and we have used him on solid colors with excellent success.
We have not bred him to tuxedo patterns. He has not produced any blue eyed whites.
The numbers don"t lie:
Histograms:
2012 16.0/ 3.9/ 23/ CF 100%/ length 90mm
2013 18.3/ 4.1/ 23/ CF99%/ length 105mm
2014 17.3/ 3.85/ 22.24/ CF 100 length 90.0
2015: 19.3/ 4.3/ 22.3/ CF 97.3 length 90mm
Biopsy (Alpaca Consulting/ Ian Watt):
Density 64.6/mm2
S/P ratio 11.8:1
In-skin mean primary fiber diameter: 25.9 SD 2.8
In-skin mean secondary fibre diameter: 20.6 SD 2.8
Comments:
Excellent density well supported by an above average S:P ratio and very uniform fiber populations, among the best recorded for this color to date.
There is simply no way that we would be offering Legato Grigio, if we didn't have sons Brubeck, Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie now standing on our stud row...
Dam: RR ROSE INCAN D'ESSENCE-grey maker! ARI#
30820517 Medium Brown RR Incan D'Essence has been has been at the top of our foundation herd and we wouldn't be offering her if we didn't have 3 of her daughters, RR Sarah Vaughn, RR Etta James and RR Roxie Hart, all by Legato Grigio. Both older daughters are banner winners. Sarah Vaughan took first in grey at the AOA Nationals, in fleece, as both a juvenile and yearling!
We are not surprise by Incan D'Essence's production. She has excellent skin follicle testing by ian Watt:
Follicle Density 60.2
S:P 10.8:1
In skin mean P 26.2 SD 3.4
In skin mean S 21.8 SD 3.1
Her stats are notable not only for density but the individual populations of primaries and secondaries differ by only 5.4 microns and both populations have excellent SDs.
It shows in her production. She has had a cria every year since 2012...all August or September cria. How's that for reproductive efficacy?
She is re-bred to Legato Grigio's son, Dizzy Gillespie.
Rose Incan D'Essence has been a proven "work horse" with plenty of excellent production left. They unfortunately don't give ribbons for dependability, but savvy breeders build herds around them...
Description
Not available for sale until re-bred in spring 2019...
Sarah Vaughan came to us via central casting:
We ordered up a solid grey female and outstanding is what we got...
The judges thought so, but the analytics cemented her phenotype to her pedigree which deserves a careful review.
The progression in her yearly histograms is what we would like to see across our herd, but Ian Watt was particularly impressed with her biopsy, suggesting that it would be difficult to improve upon. It is remarkable not just for density be degree of uniformity in the "in skin" micron differential between primary and secondary fibers:
Follicle density: 72.8/ cm2
Secondary/ Primary Ratio: 11.7
"In skin" mean primary fiber diameter: 24.4 SD 2.8
"In skin" mean secondary fiber diameter: 18.7 SD 2.9
Comments:
"An elite density for a grey female, supported by stunning uniformity in both primary and secondary fiber populations.
This is an exceptional alpaca"
We couldn't have hoped for better with Sarah's 1st cria. Wonder Woman...wonder indeed!
